The Bachata – Part Three

As the music began, she drew him in, feeling his breath on her cheek.

“Come closer a little.”

His hand was travelling down her body, coming to rest at the small concave low at her back. She gasped at the sensation of his fingers on her skin; it brought back memories from so long ago that she thought she had left behind.

And as they danced, each move was a step back in time, each gaze a stronger stirring in their souls, and each turn closer to sweet destruction.

That dance filled the whole room, so much that everything had to melt away. All she could hear was the poignant beauty of the song in her blood; all she could feel were his hands on her skin and his breath on her lips.

He had that look in his eyes, that same desirous look of fever and wild that she remembered. The rhythm was pounding in her ears now, and all she knew was how perfectly their movements connected her to him and him her.

It was as if they had never parted, and the bachata plays, timeless.

Discover Challenge: Transcript

It’s uncanny how I was sharing this old memory a while ago and then this prompt surfaced. Backstory and an excerpt as follows. 😉

Casually, he’d retrieved from his bag
A pad of foolscap and a pen
Those words in ink formed steadily
Until his thoughts were spent

In but a while it was finished
When he gazed up with a smile
Then handed me it and watched
As I gasped for a little while

I’d asked him how he did that
He shrugged, saying let thoughts flow
Thence buddings of a writer began
With seeds of words he sowed.

Rochor Centre

They throng here, enthusiastic
With their cameras and phones
Making pictures, instaworthy, of
These colours before they disappear
Each shot a moment gone
In the moment of the shot itself
Until the last of these memories
Are taken, away.

Everred – Epilogue (Excerpt)

Intense, her memories
Unwavering, his feelings
Their worlds that meet
Yet pass, colliding.

Straightened

Today my hairdresser remarked that getting a new do is like a getting a new beginning. That reminds me.

Today I straightened those
Tresses, from waves I hate yet
Self-imposed to forget

The irons glide, scalding
Ominous yet redeeming, dissipating
Last memories in wisps;
Rebond thence to reborn

Today I straightened those
Tresses, from waves I hate and
Henceforth shall forget.

Today

Delish crunchy tonkatsu
A good strong hug
Toasted marshmallow ICS and
Dirty bandung latte;
How much warmth to overflow
Rewriting memories today.

Faded Words

If words could burn, I think they would with a purest light of the brightest flame.

Her fingers move slowly on
Faded words from a faded memory
Feeling the blunt searing pain
Seep into her heart again

How can it still hurt
After so long
Such a brief moment –
How is it so strong

She knows the road
That they’ll take her down
The world she now lives
Word by word they tear down

Of reading, ravishing and
Making whole
With his eyes, his words and
His bare soul.
