Damnation.Salvation

Muses beckon, I concede with no fight;
Far apart they seem, yet close as day and night.

Daily Prompt: Contrast

Was having a discussion about real vs perceived love the other day and thought I’d try to squeeze it into the prompt today.

A quick contrast between
Love, real and perceived;
Where both are beds of roses
The former holds thorns within

For love’s not all sweet and dreamy
There’re pains and sacrifice
I’d rather brave them by your side
Than let us live a lie

I love you as you are
Not only if you’d be
That when I give no return I ask
Except to love you free.

Sojourn

I’ve always imagined writing contrasting perspectives within a prose would be daunting; my muse inspires a first attempt of darker messages with redeeming resolutions. Initial scribbles became an effective bridge, changing the prose reluctantly to lyrical form:

I wake between the realms of death and life
Not knowing if I’m dead or still alive
The pain that sears, it numbs my soul
Leaves me breathless, down out and cold

No longer can I hear your voice
Lost in my quest for love divine
Will you forsake me in darkness vile
Or save me from this fate of mine

I walk the valley of the shadow of death
Fear and desolation in every breath
My eyes no longer see the truth they behold
For love has passed when hatred stole

No longer can I hear your voice
Lost in my quest for love divine
Will you forsake me in darkness vile
Or save me from this fate of mine

I’m not right stumbling, I can’t see anymore
Yet I’m not wrong, for your light shall restore

I’m Losing You

I’m losing you; a
Beautiful plot takes on life
With its own twisted end

I’m losing you; an
Attraction subconsciously drew
Yet repels now at tangents

I’m losing you; a
Futile regret for the unforeseen
That could not be otherwise

O what comic tragedy!
That devastation should strike in
Midst of pure ecstasy.

Daily Prompt: Style Icon

I am boho vintage
And professional chic
Sometimes girlish charm
Else rocker black suede

Cherries and sweets
With spicy stir-fry
One moment it’s latte
Next, vodka on ice

Be still and contemplate
Or be a hurricane
Sometimes I’m an angel
But then I fall again.
