Cooking

Cooking is dangerous business –
In the process, one must face
The possibilities of being
Sliced by knives, splattered by oil
Even pierced by an unseen bone
Bloodied, blistered, and bruised
Yet we continue, without fear
For it is a miraculous sum of parts
And so is love.

Daily Prompt: Edible

Sitting unassuming and
Innocent, lusciously warmed and
Oozing intensity, complemented by
Iced creamy richness –
Perfectly delectable.

Coffee Lover

I used to drink instant
Coffee, artificially sweet with
Trace amounts of genuineness;
Until, by chance, I found real
Coffee – grind, heat and pressure in
Perfect measures, the perfect brew.

Daily Prompt: Sated

I cubed, he chopped
For a dish to be invented
Uncharted culinary territories
With the spatula I braved;
Then I conquered to my
Amazement, the dish turned out
Perfect, to feed our hunger
And sate our palate.

Delicious

Simmer then both
Of us, on a hotplate
A dash of reckless and
Pinch of sultry to taste
Scoop me up in
Your inviting arms
Toss us together in
Bed to keep warm.

Daily Prompt: Playful

I’d like to make us breakfast
When the sun’s already high
And you’ll creep up with a hug
And a twinkle in your eye

I’d gasp in surprise to turn
As I drop the eggs in pan
Your arms around my waist
It’s strawberries in your breath

We must of course then linger
A little longer, me in your arms
Where moments are always timeless
And time forever young.
