Down a while –
They sometimes burn
A hole in my heart.

I would love to know what the wings symbolise for you and why they have burnt a hole in your heart!

Ok here goes: the first three lines describe the visual of (an angel) removing his wings, signifying a break from being angelic. The last three italicised lines are his thoughts, that sometimes they “burn a hole” in his heart. These hint at the heaviness of his wings that they need to be taken down a while, and together with the feeling of burning a hole in his heart, symbolizes his weariness of doing good as these good sometimes cause him pain, of rejection and unwantedness.
But yet, he says “a while”, which means he does not intend to stop doing good, rather, needs a reprieve at this point. 🙂
