That Night

His car flew along the lamp-lit street, her hand in his as he drove down the almost empty road.

“Thank you for the evening. I enjoyed myself with you.”

“Pleasure’s all mine.”

“Thank you,” he said. “For everything.”

“What do you mean?”

“For showing me that not all girls I like are jerks.”

The trees flew by on his side of the window.

“You’re a great guy. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.”

He looked her in the eyes and said, “I’m gonna send that right back at you.”

On that first drive home that night.

Photographs

We are each
A collection of moments of
Brilliance, like photographs;
Captured, frozen screenshots in
Time, that after the moment’s
Passed, it remains
Etched and ingrained in our
Photo books of life.

Dilemma

O vexatious dilemma
When he toils and labours
That one espies his presence
Over chat apps entice, yet
Hesitates between text, hence
Amorously distract, or leave him
To his own solitary device.

Daily Prompt: Wind

The writer’s bane
When thoughts abound
At unearthly hours too
Late to write down, for when
Morning comes they
Would have passed, like
Leaves in the wind, without a
Trace of memories past.

Vulnerable

The heart might decide
On being vulnerable yet
But its scars refuse.

Ain’t Missing

Sometimes it’s not
Our thoughts running away
With us; just maybe
The missing getting away
With it.
