Through A Black Hole

I jumped through a black hole
And found me back, when
Eden was a haven yet;
Time folds and it would
Again, perhaps.

What surreality to be
As though things never changed;
I’d rewrite my future, and
Deja vu might come knocking
Perhaps, again.

Finishing Line

Like the marathon runner
Who sights the finishing line
His breath quickens with
His muscles drawn tight

The thrill of completing
A race of endurance
Overrides excruciation of
The long-distance stride.

Daily Prompt: Que Sera Sera

I would think –

Life’s path meanders, at
Times unexpected, yet goes
Where Destiny waits.

Musing Senses

Sometimes it seems:

Sense of sight stimulates
Thoughts; validation
Of what the eye sees

As hearing evokes
Feelings; sensation
Of what the ear breathes

These out of the five senses
Call for the intangibles, they
Intuitively affect, being
Affectively intuitive.

Keep It That Way

My take on BigBang’s latest tune. 🙂

While the days still seem brighter
With each text you write
While my heartbeat still quickens
At the sound of your voice
Let’s just keep it that way

While I still can’t contain this feeling
Grinning like a fool
While I still blush at your gestures
Breaking all the rules
Let’s just keep it that way

While we still enjoy our company
On a road that hadn’t gone far
While we’re still imperfectly flawless
Exactly the way we are
Let’s just keep it that way

While feelings still tether between
Rationality and wild passion
While some things still are the same
Though some beg to be different
Let’s just keep it that way.

Creed

Some time on my hands
And the morning to myself
Makes for timely recalibration
Of internal things that dwell

With personal values set, of
Focus, steadfastness and passion
Anchoring my state of mind
Seems the next logical progression

To hone these values in the fire of life
And be who I am meant to be
Against all trying tribulations and trials
To be who I am called to be.

Majulah Singapura

While everyone hypes and celebrates
Our nation’s fiftieth birthday
A collection of recollections I make
Gratuitous, a celebration my way:

When Singapore is mentioned
To overseas friends, a vision of
Cityscapes, clean and green
Strict fines, stricter policies
All for a harmonious society
Of togetherness and meritocracy

To some folks we may hardly seem
The ideal place to work or live
Where governance seems paternal, and
Some feel, a tad stifling

Yet I am thankful for:

The subsidized public housing
That fulfills our basic needs
The convenient connectivity our
Un-ideal transport system brings
Ever-changing education directions
Imperfect, but striving to achieve

Convenience of neighbourhood food courts
All cultural palates you’d imagine
Our strong defence forces ensuring
The safety of wee-hour streets
So I can contemplate and ponder
The paths towards my dreams

Sure we Singaporeans may very much
Be a complainy boring tech-gadgety bunch
But I suspect deep down inside
Love for our nation is very much alive

All these that our forefathers have built
Shall surely etch and never be forgot
So as we celebrate our golden jubilee
Onwards we go, to brighter futures and beyond.
