Daily Prompt: Eat, Drink, and Be Merry

On the last night of the world
I shall gather everyone
Family, friends and all the rest
Whose paths with mine were spun

We’ll each bring to the table
The foods that we love best
Then sit ourselves down to partake
The night’s dinner our last

We’ll eat and talk and laugh
Of good times that’s gone by
And reminisce the worldly things
To which we’ll say goodbye

Then to each other confess
Bad things we’ve said and done
Seek and give forgiveness
Make good what bad begun

As the dark night lightens
We’ll brace ourselves for the day
Make peace with our Maker
And truth shall lead the way.
